All purpose meat sauce - great for freezing!

Cook up a large batch of meat sauce and freeze in large portions to use with pasta, in lasagne, sheppherd's pie, etc.

1 bottle Prego Original 1.75 L
2 cans Crushed or Stewed Tomatoes 796 mL
2 cans Tomato Paste
500 grams Ground Beef
1 cup Grated Carrot
1 - 2 cups Chopped Onion
1 - 2 tbs Garlic (I use the kind on the jar)
1 tbs Olive Oil
1 tbs Parsley
1 tbs Basil
Salt and Pepper to taste
Pepper flakes to desired spiciness

Thoroughly cook ground beef in bottom of stock pot. Add onion, carrot and garlic until onion starting to cook. Reduce heat to low. Stir in Prego (or other sauce of choice), tomatoes, olive oil and tomato paste. Add remaining spices. Simmer until hot and bubbly. Cool and freeze!

I made a huge pot today... improvising on many ingredients and ended up with 9 containers of sauce for dinners. I will use them over pasta with bread... or layered with lasagne noodles, eggs, ricotta, and mozarella for an easy meat lasagne. I will also warm it and add sloppy joe spice package mix and serve over buns.... or add sheppherd's pie package spices and top with mashed potatoes and cheese. And finally, add chili spices and kidney beans for a nice chili dinner. 5 hearty dinners with little effort!

P.S. If you have children and/or are interested in freezing food, I highly recommend buying the biggest stock pot you can fit on your stove. I paid $50 for mine and love it, love it, love it. :)
